¹⁸ For about forty years He took care of them in the desert. ¹⁹ He destroyed the people of seven nations in the land of Canaan. Then He divided the land and gave it to them as their own. ²⁰ For about 450 years He let them have special leaders. They had these leaders until the time of Samuel.
